Contemporary Finnish architecture is going strong. New buildings of excellent quality have been designed and built in recent years, in Helsinki and other Finnish cities as well as abroad, by both experienced and younger generation architects.
Photographer Kari Palsila has immortalized 18 examples of recent work and designs by some of the best Finnish architects.
Among these works are the Kilden Performing Arts Centre, an international breakthrough in Norway by ALA Architects the Helsinki University Library Kaisa, by AOA Anttinen Oiva Architects and the Wuxi Grand Theatre in China by PES-Architects. Also featured is the Helsinki Music Centre by LPR Architects, which has proven to be one of the best concert halls in the world in acoustic terms.
This richly illustrated book also features a selection of the best and most recent examples of educational, residential and industrial buildings, including the highly praised Turku Library by JKMM Architects.
